Snowdonia is a rugged region in northwestern Wales, where hundreds of hills top 2,000 feet. and fourteen top 3,000 feet. Here, pastoral and moorland valleys rise up rocky hillsides, surmounted by narrow ridges and sharp peaks. These mountains are the highest in the United Kingdom south of the Scottish Highlands.
There are plenty of easy walking routes throughout the range, as well as excellent rock climbing routes. The highest peak in the range is Snowdon (3560 ft./1084 m).
