The Mackenzie Mountains are a northern range within the Canadian Rocky Mountain system. This high plateau and its accompanying ridges and valleys forms much of the border between the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Bitter winter temperatures drop to 70 degrees below zero here, but during the summer months temperatures are milder, and the remoteness of the area makes the Mackenizie Range excellent for wilderness backcountry travel.
The highest peak of the Mackenzie Mountains is Keele Peak (9760 ft/ 2975 m).
