The crossing from Zugspitze to Alpspitze, called Jubilaeumsweg or in Munich simply called " Jubelweg" follows a partially narrow and very exposed ridge, partially UIAA II-III. On the ridge are rising the 3 tops Höllentalspitzen and the rocky tooth Vollkarspitze. Mittlere Höllentalspitze is the highest mountain completely situated on the territory of Germany ( 9030 ft.) From Zugspitze to gap Grieskarscharte 8-9 h. From Grieskarscharte you can walk up to Alpspitze 3/4 h and descent from here on the normal path to Kreuzeck or you descent from Grieskarscharte passing lake Stuibensee to Kreuzeck. On Kreuzeck is Adolf-Zoeppritz-Haus ( German- Alpine Club). From Grieskarscharte to Zoeppritz-Haus 3 h.
You should go by the cablecar or the rack-railway from Garmisch to Zugspitze, pass there the night and leave Zugspitze as early as possible. Please consider, that you are on the ridge permanent in a height of approximately 9000 -10 000 feet !
