Pointe De Zinal

From the Cabanne Grand Montet, 4.5 hours from Zinal, VS, we climbed the North Face in 5 hours. Great conditions in the face but with a very tricky start involving an acrobatic step over the bottom lip of the face. We joined the east ridge for some great climbing inorder to reach the summit. The desent followed the east ridge to the pass and then back to the Cabanne. Be carefull, we were very luck to retrieve a college who fell 8 meters into a crevase while his partener bearely managed to stop him. There are a number of large crevases on this glacier and attention should be paided at ALL times. Other than that, great summit. Fabulous climging with Dent Blanche, Durand, Obergabelhorn, Triffthorn, Zinalrothorn in the foreground, and a great view on the Zmuttgrate of the Matterhorn, not too mention Monta Rosa.
