Airola Peak

Great day hike peak from Highland Lakes. Peak is located southwest of the lower lake in the Carson Iceburg Wilderness (hidden from view by Hiram Peak). I made my approach from the East into the saddle section ~500 feet below the summit. To reach this saddle some scrambeling was needed(classIII)with a couple of scree fields along the way. The approach is easier from the west, but the distance is much greater. The summit is a knike edge ridge ~100 feet in length to the South. A summit sign in log is located on peak. During low snow years water is very limited, so be prepared. Great places to camp are located along the way if you wish to make this an overnight adventure. Total time for the hike was ~6 hours with 30/mins on the summit.
