Mount Tongariro

We walked up the normal "motorway" path as part of the Crossing. Descended off-track on a SSE bearing towards the South Crater down a steep-ish, slaty face which was a little unstable but not technically difficult - just required a little caution.

A cloudless day ensured that we had fine views of Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu.

Currently planning next ascent via the western, untracked face for winter (if the snow ever arrives this year..........)
