Mount Marcy

Took the Van Hoevenberg Trail from the Adirondack Loj. The trail is easygoing and gradually uphill for 2.3 miles to Marcy Dam with nice views. From there the trail steepens a bit (though still not difficult). At the end it goes past treeline and reaches the summit after a total of 7.4 miles (rountrip would be 14.8 miles). Beautiful view on top with many high peaks in the Adirodacks visible. Took a different trail back going past Lake Tear of the Clouds (headwater of Hudson River), Lake Colden, and Avalanche Lake for 19.5 miles roundtrip.
