Humphreys Peak

A beautiful day. 5 people summited and possibly two more. A couple from Arkansas I passed on the way up - and down - were about 1200 feet from the top when I last saw them. Patches of snow made for moderate post-holing in sections on the upper mountain. Firm snow lower down covered sections of trail. Once up on the ridge winds were 20-30mph. and increasing to around 40 on the descent. A Phoenix man complained of altitude related headache near the summit. I gave him some ibuprofin and that seemed to help. It took me about 3.5 hours to reach the top from the parking lot. I descended the bare ski slope and saved some time on the return. Total time 5 hours.
