- Photo by Michael DennePhoto of Mt Halcon here was taken from Superferry 12 - an inter-island ferry at about 4pm on 20th May 2010 - while on route from Manila to Cagayan De Oro in Mindanao, via Cebu City. Weather was a lovely very humid warm tropical day...with a nice breeze blowing from the east. Massive thunderheads were building over Mt Halcon a high dormant volcanic peak about 20 kilometres inland from the north coast capital of Calapan City on the island of Mindoro. This photo view is roughly southwest showing the peak with thunderheads making it look like it was an erupting volcano. It had a massive presence as the ferry was about 10 kms off the coast heading southeast, left of picture.
