Mount Mitchell

mt. mitchell is one of the most beautiful mountains i have ever seen....the views are awesome from the summit....and i love the camping there....i have been there camping when it was 15 at night and snowing...it was a real experiance for me but i loved every minute of it....and the weather there is different from any other place i have ever been to...it can snow at anytime and in any month as well... i have been there in late feb. of 1998 and there was 5ft of snow on the ground...i had to snowshoe some of the areas.....so if you do go camping ,hiking,are just to look at the view for a day...call ahead of time...because from the months of oct.-late april...there can be snow totals on the ground of a few inches-5ft.+...and temp. can be from 30s- -0s and the windchill could be death threating....so have fun and dress warmly....l8ter,shane
