Description
Bisoke is one of the Virunga volcano chain, that includes Mounts Karisimbi, Sabinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura. ORTPN, the national Rwandan Tourism Office organises two-day tours to Mount Bisoke and Mount Karisimbi.
Bisoke is quite a steep ascent, best to manage during the short or long dry season. On top the biggest crater lake of the Virunga chain can be seen unless there is too much fog... Botanically the track leads through bamboo forest, the habitat of mountain gorillas, giant lobelia or hagenia and alpine meadows.
