Description
Old Rag is one of the highest peaks in the Northern Virgina section of the Blue Ridge. Unlike most of the peaks in the Blue Ridge, Old Rag has a bald summit that allows spectactular views of neighboring Blue Ridge peaks, as well as the beautiful valleys below. The first part of the Ridge Trail consists of switchbacks through the woods, but the final portion is a fun scramble through boulders, natural staircases, and small crevices. A great hike/climb, especially in the fall when the leaves are changing.
