Description
Piule is a distinctive peak in the southern calcareous range of Retezat mountains, quite famous in ancient Romanian legends.
Its surrounding area is rich in pastoral life, as well as wildlife. Bears and vipers may be dangerous and are often met by tourists.
Gurganul Peak - an extension of Piule- is much harder to climb than the principal peak.
Climbing Piule needs more precaution on rainy weather- but no more than it's generally needed in calcareous mountains.
The peak offers great panorama to all surrounding mountains.
Access from Buta chalet.
