Description
The best way to reach Senjou Dake is to take a bus from either Kofu in Yamanashi or Ina in Nagano up to Kitazawa Pass where a trail leads up through the trees to the alpine area. From Kitazawa Pass the summit can be easily reached in three to four hours. Senjou Dake looks over to Kai-Komagatake and Kita Dake and is known for its glacial cirques and wildflowers. Senjou is one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains and one of Japan's 21 peaks over 3,000 metres. Some winter climbers visit Senjou though the buses stop running to Kitazawa Pass at the end of October.
