Zugspitze Summit Log (#15267)

For the past ten years I've climbed G.Ledang using the Sagil route, six times with my son. Each time we summited and spent two nights there. It's such a wonderful place that I would always feel the urge go there every two yrs or so, but my latest visit on 3 July 2004 was a great disappointment as I had to turn back at CP1. Before that, at the ranger's office I learnt that beside the need to pay a number of fees, hiring a mountain guide was compulsory; and it was not cheap. However after registration, the ranger told me I could negotiate with the Taman Negara staff on hiring mountain guide at CP1. After reaching CP1 I had to turn back when the negotiation failed. The reason was I did not have enough money as it was rather expensive. I don't mind paying the other fees like entrance fees to the resort, registration fees, camping fees, nature conservation fees and insurance fees. These are the fees that I came to know about when the ranger handed me a list and told me this is harga baru. I would like to suggest that hiring the guide be made optional. Would be climbers should bring enough money and go in a bigger group to share the cost of hiring the guide.
