Description

Mount Burney is located in the Opal Range northwest of Mount Jerram and southeast of Mount Blane. It is not as steep as the other Opal Range peaks and is not ascended very often.

Named in 1922 after Sir Cecil Burney, a Vice Admiral who commanded the HMS Marlborough in the Battle of Jutland during World War I.

Access is from the King Canyon parking area, then head up the old trail with numerous creek crossings then at the head of the valley below Mount Blane turn right.
