Description
Pilot Butte is located within the city limits of Bend, Oregon. Its elevation is 4,142 feet tall, but only rises about 500 feet above the surrounding plains. This is because Bend has an elevation of 3,623 feet. It is a popular hiking destination. Pilot Butte is part of the Cascade Mountain Range and the Cascade Volcanic Arc. A road winds around and up to the summit. From the top, the entire city of Bend is visible, along with several Cascade mountains. Pilot Butte is also the location from where the Bend 4th of July fireworks are launched.
