Description
Kaufmann Peaks are located in the Mistaya River Valley within Banff National Park. Kaufmann Peaks are situated at the north end of the Waputik Mountains. Kaufmann Peaks are visible from the scenic Icefields Parkway and when viewed from Waterfowl Lakes create a postcard image along with Mount Sarbach to the north and Epaulette Mountain to the south. Kaufmann Peaks are nearly identical summits with the south being slightly higher at 3109 meters and the north peak listed as 3094 meters in elevation. The mountain is named for the Swiss Kaufmann brothers, Christian and Hans, who worked as mountain climbing guides in the area and are credited with many first ascents in the Canadian Rockies.
