Canadian Border Peak

Description

Canadian Border Peak is less than a kilometer north of the US-Canada border. With the higher American Border Peak 1.5 km to its south, Canadian Border Peak is situated at the northern end of a group of inter-connected peaks on a high ridge between Tomyhoi Creek to the west and Silesia Creek to the east. Canadian Border Peak is located northeast of Mount Baker and can be seen from the Mount Baker Highway, but is more easily seen from the Canadian side of the border. Winchester Mountain also provides an excellent vantage point to view and photograph the steep and sheer walls of this mountain. The rock consists of interbedded and interfolded phyllites, slates, and greenstone. The standard approach from Slesse Creek Road involves cross-country route finding and some exposed climbing to reach the summit.

The first ascent was made in 1932 by Tom Fyles and Stan Henderson.
