Description
El Toro is one of the "Cinco Águilas Blancas" (Five White Eagles) of Sierra Nevada de Mérida at the venezuelan Andes. It is located in the south ridge with respect of the city of Mérida. The approach to this peak can be done using the cable that goes from Mérida (1600 mts.) to Estación Loma Redonda (4000 mts.) Starting fron Loma Redonda take the trail to the town of Los Nevados until you reach Alto de La Cruz (Cross Heigh). Behind the cross starts the trail marked with piles of stones wich needs to be well known. Better i to hire a guide at Mérida. It's a large trek until the real ascention begins. No water on the way.
