Schober

Description

Schober is a very popular pre-alpine mountain in the surroundings of the city of Salzburg. It rises with a remarkable rocky wall above lake Fuschlsee.

From the village Fuschl am See drive direction Thalgau to a road branch. On a small secondary road to a parking below castle ruin Wartenfels ( appr. 2800 ft ). On a broad path to the ruin, then on a steep path with many cables in the upper part to the top., 1 h. Descent some 200 ft to west and ascent to secondary top Frauenkopf ( 15 minutes). Descent on a broad path ( caution of stone-fall when crossing a rubble slope) to Wartenfels, 3/4 h.
