Description
Mont Albert is located in Gaspèsie National Park. It is in the Chic-chocs range. This mountain is a vast plateau that as 2 summits (south 1154m),(north 1088m)it is also home to Caribous that is the reason why its ascent is only permitted from june to september. Only the north summit is permitted to hike.
The loop on its north summit is 17,4km 6 to 8 hrs /gain 870m.
This trail offers some of the most beautiful alpine views in the region . Lucky hikers get to see also some of the local Caribou.
The Chic Chocs are the northern extension of the Appalachian Mountains and contain over 25 peaks 1000m or more. They are known for their steep ridges and broad flat summit plateaus. The summits of all of the higher peaks are bereft of trees, containing only tundra type vegetation .
