Description

Schwarzenkopf (1819 m) is a nice peak for hiking in the Zugspitze region. It is situated at the east side of the Höllental (Hell valley), directly above the Höllentalklamm at its east side, and it offers the best possible view of the valley. The peak can be approached from three different directions. One route is from the the Höllental, more precisely from the Hollentalangerhutte (1.379 m), passing the Knappenhauser hutte to the Hupfleitenjoch and then to the summit. The other is from the Kreuzeck, and the third one is by descending from the Osterfelderkopf (2050 m). The route from the Höllental is by far the most attractive, and it essentially starts at the small village Hammersbach, with a parking place (4 euro per day, coins only). The other two may be combined with the cable car, either to Kreuzeck or to Osterfelderkopf.

Equipment: normal hiking shoes. Fees: 3 euro entrance fee to the Höllental, paid at the Höllentaleingangshütte (1047m) above Hammersbach.
