February 14, 2010, 6 of 9 of our group summitted on a perfect day, maybe -5, and despite the awful performance of the Canadian guiding company, and their lousy organization, confusing and contradictory communication, insufficient and sometimes rotten food, and a disinterested, inattentive and often absent guide who treated clients like livestock. Do your homework before signing on with any outfit. For those planning this climb, we went up the Vacus Valley side, which is much less crowded than the normal route. Had wanted to climb the Polish Glacier route, but it is not in good shape in the past few years and a great many who set out with that goal switch to the False Polish instead, which is more interesting than the normal route, but also not technical. Advice: the first three days to Plaza Argentina can be very hot. We started at +40 cent. So take a sun hat that won’t blow off in 50 mph winds.
