Mount Baker

Coleman - Deming Glacier route. 1 hour approach hike.

I would suggest to avoid the lower campsites on the hogsback and continue another 45 minutes to "high" camp under the Black Buttes. The line is clearly visible from this camp. I always leave camp @ 12:00 (midnight), this puts me on the crater rim just as the sun is coming up.

Early in the season (up til about mid July) it is possible and preferred to go straight up the Roman Wall. Later on and one must contour North (right).

Please take wag/blue bags for your disposals. The camp sites around the Black Buttes get pretty stinky once the snow melts down. Please Pack IT OUT!
