Wheeler Peak

this is a classic great basin range hike. starts from wheeler campground, then ascends through meadows and aspen. the trail is well marked by both hikers and wildlife. saw deer high on the flanks of wheeler peak the day of our climb.there are sweeping views as far as one can see as you make your climb up to wheeler peak. the last few miles are very steep with rocky talus all the way up to the summit. met less that a couple of dozen climbers. a good trail leads you up to the summit.
