Wilson Peak

Climbed from the new Rock of Ages TH, which has replaced the old Silver Pick Basin trail. The route is longer than the old one, but still the shortest route to Wilson Peak. A very good trail leads to the Rock of Ages saddle (3.7 miles). A clear but more difficult trail leads from there to a low point on the Wilson Peak/Gladstone Peak ridge. Then the fun begins. The route then climbs, and sidehills, back to the south ridge leading up to Wilson Peak to the false summit. After crossing the ridge to the NW side, we descended to a small flat area and then did the heavy scrambling (Class 3/4) to the actual summit ridge. Fourteener #49 for me, #48 for Trisha.
