Marapara Peak

Our climbing party is composed of Dennis Ella (me), Joel Berina, Roger Sildres, Mariebelle Porras, Totong Danoy, Edna Marcasote, Socorro Belgira and Gildo Faldas, our guide.

After spending a night camp in the Patag hospital, our party started in the morning on July 19, 1998 for the ascent. With less fit members and loaded with gear and supplies for a summit camp, our party reached the summit in 6 hours, while fast-climbing parties could do it in only two hours.

With the fog always hovering over the summit, we were able to enjoy the vistas of the surrounding landscape for a brief moment early in the morning of the following day.
