Teide

This was my second solo night climb of El Teide, on the night between June 17-18, 2012. Started at the car parking in the big crater (Las Canadas, at around 2350 m) at 1:30 AM. I met two people below Altavista who were descending at unusual time, at 4 AM. One explained that his companion became sick at Altavista and they descended right away. I passed Altavista hut at 5:30 and arrived totally exhausted to the summit at 7:45, late to catch the full length of the shadow of Teide. Disappointment was complete. At the summit much more sulphur in the air as compared to my previous climb. Very cold night, temperature probably around zero.
