I grew up in the Westallgäu in Baden Württemberg, Germany, close to the Northern Alps. During this time I have spent numerous weekends and vacations in the nearby mountains with friends and with my family. After attending University and after doing a PhD in the north of Germany, I was living in the United Kingdom near Cambridge for a couple of years. Now I am back close to the Alps in Switzerland. Here, and in the neighboring countries, I am currently exploring and enjoying some of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world during my leisure time. In the years to come I plan to visit the major mountain ranges outside Europe and to do some trekking and climbing there.
