What a fantastic day to climb a mountian. There was not a cloud in the sky, which made for a truely incredible experience. It was 60 degrees at the summit. The consistency of the snow was firm in the morning and became slushy in the afternoon. No technical work was necessary. So many folks had traveled the route that enough steps had been kicked. I still used crampons to alliviate any slipping. Snow shoes were also not necessary THAT DAY(one should still have them). Glissading was unbelievable. I glissaded intermittently from the summit down to treeline at 4000ft; there's not many snowfields where you can do that safely. What a rush! The worst part were the infrequent dare devil snowmobilers screaming up to the crater. It was a long haul from Marble Mountain, the road to Climber's Bivouac was closed. Make sure you check the climbing/road conditions at (360) 247-3961. Good Luck in the lottery!
