Samson Peak is located in Jasper National Park and is part of the Queen Elizabeth Range. It is situated on the northeastern shore of beautiful Maligne Lake and this position makes it visible to the thousands of tourists that come to the lake and take the commercial boat tour to Spirit Island. The peak was named by Mary Schaffer, an adventurous explorer from Pennsylvania, in honor of Samson Beaver who provided her with a crude hand drawn map to the elusive Maligne Lake. She also named the peak to the north of Samson for his wife, Leah.
