Featured photo of Tenaya Peak

Tenaya Peak is centrally located in Yosemite National Park and offers sweeping views of the park from the summit. It is situated immediatley east and 2000 feet above Tenaya Lake. Both the lake and peak are prominent landmarks along the scenic Tioga Road which bisects the high alpine wilderness of the park. Tenaya Peak is named for native-American Chief Tenaya. The easiest summit routes are one day scrambles on the west face or south side. The Northwest Buttress offers a sportier 14 pitch 5.5 route on clean slab granite. Refer to High Sierra Climbing by Chris McNamara for climbing information on the Northwest Buttress of Tenaya Peak. The climbing season for Tenaya Peak is limited by the seasonal winter closure of Tioga Pass Road.
