Rainy Peak is located in North Cascades National Park along the east boundary line. It's situated one kilometer (.6 mile) southeast of Frisco Mountain and two miles south of Rainy Pass. Rainy Peak is connected to Frisco by a high ridge which forms a cirque. The Lyall Glacier resides in this north cirque, which drains down to beautiful Rainy Lake in the basin below. The south aspect of the peak has 4000 feet of vertical relief above Bridge Creek which cuts below its south footing. The Pacific Crest Trail also passes along the south footing of the peak.
It is a one day climb from the North Cascades Highway. Refer to Fred Beckey's Cascade Alpine Guide, Volume 2, for information on the established climbing routes.
