Highest peak in the Western Cape, which can be climbed in 5 hours from De Doorns. Towers over the vineyards of the Hexriver valley, along with the rest of the range. A rugged mountain range, with an eerily similar 40 degree sloping southern aspect along the entire range. Views from the top include most of the Western Cape ranges to the north, west (also Table mountain 150 km away) and south, and the vast expanses and typical buttes and mesas of the Karoo towards the east.

    We slept at the campsite in the valley (where you can drive), and went up and down in a day. Bit of a straight-up-the-path-slog, but the views from the top are amazing.

    Spectacular views from the top. We slept on the summit of the peak and during the night the weather became really bad. The little tent flapped in the gale force winds. It was about minus 8 degrees C...

    A tough 5-hour slog, with stunning scenery al round. Best climbed right after a cold front with snow had passed through. A must for mountain-lovers visiting South Africa and the Western Cape.
