Quandary Peak Trip Report (#11714)
- Signed By: Shannon Henry of Morhead City, NC, USA
- Date submitted: August 26, 2004
We live at the beach of NC and we made the climb witout altitude sickness. We did give ourselves 3 days to acclimate. We hiked slow -- 4 hours and 20 minutes to the summit, 2 hours on the return. From Breckenridge on HWY 9, turn right onto Blue Lakes Road - Forest Rd. 851 (just before the top of Hoosiers Pass)and follow the signs. PAss the main parking area with the Map Sign and continue up the dirt road .5 miles until you see a sign w/ a brown arrow. Park along the side of the road and enter using what looks like a 4 wheeler path. This saves about 1,000 feet in elevation.
