Dhaulagiri Trip Report (#1771)
- Signed By: Christopher Haddad

On the 6 of June, 1998, I was to become the youngest person to ever summit Dhaulagiri at the age of 16. The summit was magnificent, pearing out to Annapurna to the east, along with Tukucha. However, even in my state of youth, this mountain is to be taken very seriously. Our exped was almost wiped out by an avalanche at 7945m, and the air up there is so thin that if someone were to ask me "9+8", I could have answered it in about 45 seconds. So climbers, young and old, beware. Although absolutely breath-taking on the approach and climb, it can also take your breath away in another way...forever.
