It was the weekend where the storm and the flood rushed the Northern Alps. Not so heavy at Monte Rosa: "Only" stormblasts. By the way, it was really nice to be the only persons at the summit, watching the crowd crawling to Rifugio Margherita, breathing hard (or just hardly?) while trying to reach the hut. No, we were not there. We went back to Capanna Gnifetti. Next time the climbing of Dufourspitze from the Zumsteinspitze will be fine.
Just another thing: If you drive from Switzerland over the Simplon-Pass to Italy, Alagna Valsesia, you have to notice the revision of the ****ing cable car. What this means? A walk of approx. 7 hours to the hut or a "joyride" through half Northern Italy to reach the Aosta-Valley and Gressoney-La- Trinite. There's a cable-car too, and it works! We drove 6 hours to there, over 350 km, and it was really too late to ascend on this day. So take the next, you should have enough!
My suggestion: Ask the boss of the hut before you try to start. The boss of Capanna Gnifetti didn't inform us, and we didn't know, that we'd better ask. In Germany it's called "Pulling it out of the nose of this guy", you know what I mean?
