Watzespitze is the highest peak of the most technical part of the Otztaler Alpen: the Kaunergrat. For Austrian standards this is an impressive peak. The peak has two summits: main:11,588ft and South 11,486ft. The Kaunergrat (grat=ridge) is situated between the valeys of Kaunertal and Pitztal. This is a popular climbing area. Above both these valleys are cabins: Verpeilhütte above the Kaunertal and Kaunergrathütte above the Pitzvalley. From the Kaunergrathut at 9,240ft the summit can be reached in 3.5 hours. on all sides of Watzespitze are small glaciers. The SW side of the mountain is much more remote: there are no cabins or tracks in the valley of the Watzebach, so you have to bring your tent with you. But you won't see a single soul until you reach the upper summit ridge. watch out for the small glacier above the steep rocks.
