Scafell Trip Report (#14020)
- Signed By: Gordon L. Hewstone
- Date submitted: September 16, 2003
IMPORTANT INFORMATION Having just attempted to climb ScaFell via Lords Rake please note that this popular route from Brown Tongue and Hollow Stones up Lords Rake is now BLOCKED by a large and dangerous boulder on Lords Rake. Signs have been posted at the start of the Rake and lower down in Wasdale but not on the Eskdale side as far as I know. This means that if you are ascending from Wasdale you will have to climb over the Mickledor Ridge, go down the other side and ascend via The Gulley to Foxes Tarn. This adds considerably to the length of the journey and height to be climbed. Still, an enjoyable day with superb views all the way to the Isle of Man. My two kids' (aged 7 & 9) first 3000-er.
