Englands highest peak is one that has a reputation for crowds. I never met a soul today and it was middle of the summer hols. The reason was heavy rain and mist. I had visited Hellvellyn and Skidaw the two previous days of my trip and today added Scafell and Scafell Pike to complete the english 3000ers. I now have the Welsh and Irish 300ers to complete my grandslam of 284 Munros plus the furth. I shall come back and see these hills on a good day. The only reason I did climb them in the rain was I had to return to Scotland and meet a colleage for a trip into Knoydart.
