" Mt. Haeckel is a very beautiful peak tapering to a narrow point, a fine example of what might be termed a Gothic type of peak whose ascent is a fairly difficult climb " - Norman Clyde ( pretty much sums it up ). The Northwest Arete is an excellent climb - start from the glacier below - nice climb.

    Climbed up the 3rd/4th class south face. Descend via the saddle with Mt Wallace.

    Climbed the Northwest Arete from a camp below Midnight Lake with Gary Hinton ( his last mountain climb ). Long approach but an excellent climb - started with some fun frozen snow. Recomended.
