Quite easy climb, however be sure to get proper acclimatisation before, watch out for sudden weather change. Easy mountain in good weather conditions, can be deadly when weathers gets worse though. The day after I topped Elbrus 11 people got lost up there due to poor visibility (9 found within next 24 hours, not sure about remaining 2), the peak attracts clouds, cloud appearance is often a question of minutes (I really do not know where they come from all of a sudden).
Walking poles very useful, ice pick can be used above saddle (approx. 5400) as the route gets steeper.
I find Elbrus kind of tiresome and boring, sometimes you get a feeling like it's an endless walk without change in scenery. Climbed once and I think that's enough.
