Bring a thermos and keep it in your down jacket. Water freezes solid, if the temps drop to minus 20F, like in our case. Start at 3:00 a.m. from Pastuchov Rocks and the summit can be yours in 7-9 hours. The Barrels were actually great. We took the snowcat to Pastuchov Rocks. After the climb the snowcat took us back to the Barrels. The cost is $100 for the entire vehicle, regardless of number of passengers. It' will take up to 12 and gear, so the $9 is well worth it, if you just spent 10-12 hours on crampons and can save two more hours of walking.
