Hello, first a little correction - the height of western summit of Elbrus is 5642 metres (18510 feet), not 5633.
So, I get to the point. Climbing Elbrus was my very first summit. Our ascent started at 1.15 a.m. local time on July 17, we summited at 8.40 a.m. (4 people then, 1 guy two hours later). The weather was fantastic, cloudless sky, only Moon was lighting our way. Wind was a bit strong, but it did not disturb us. Feeling was absolutely fantastic, no sickness. At the summit we spent approximately 20 minutes - enjoyed marvellous landscape, took photos and sipped some Stroh rum. Descent lasted for 3,5 hours. So now I am totally infected with mountain climbing bacteria...can't wait to climb new heights! I suggest everyone to do the same!
Best regards, Hannes
