Silver Run Peak is the fifth highest peak in Montana. It has one of the shortest approach distances of any of the high Beartooth peaks, and is very popular for hikers and climbers alike.

The standard route on Silver Run Peak is the broad southwest ridge, reached by a long trail hike from Sundance Pass. This is said by many to be the most beautiful trail in the Beartooth Mountains.

There are also numerous technical rock climbing routes, most notably on the west face, which rises over 3,000 vertical feet above the West Fork drainage.
