Pic de Bertagne is a massive limestone mountain near the mediterranean sea. The west face (180 meters) shows many difficults aid and free rocks climbing. The most famous one is the "Pilier" (Brigitte & Robert Tanner 1967, 5.12 max).

    The highpoint of the Sainte Baume massif, but also the most boring section. The rest of the ridge is a beautiful broad limestone ridge, and the ancient forest below is a wonderful contrast.
