this mountain really dowes resemble a 'sleeping princess' from the aztec legend that sees popo's eruption as tears for his dead princess,Iztacciuatl.
my days there were weather perfect....trail head at la hoya parking lot...easy to find....hut at 15,6oo ft empty on the weekday...lots of supplies left there....no water on the mountain...should have 3-4 qts/person if you spend night in the hut...2-3hours from the hut to summitt...large snow field near summit but never felt need to use crampons. true summit is visible from the false summit...confusing as most people believe thet true summit is one with the cross and offerings your altimeter will convince you otherwise.
a relly good acclimatizer no really exposed stuff no tecnical difficulties...just a good workout! would like to do it again...met some ultra marthoners frommexico city that run to the summit every sunday!
