- Date submitted: February 05, 2002
- Date(s) climbed: 26th Jan 2002
Started out from Trevelez midday Friday 25th in 20+ c temperatures, which made it a hard walk up to our first camp. We set-up camp at approx. 2300m around 5pm and watched the temperature drop down -10c.
We started of for the Summit at 11am on the 26th, again the temp reached 20+c during the day, which made the going hard. We reached the summit at 5.50pm and were rewarded by a great sunset. After 15-20 mins on the summit we made our way down to 3100m to set up camp. The temp dropped down to -20c that night and it was still -18c when the sun came up at 7.30am.
We started back down to Trevelez at about 9.30am and we were enjoying a well-earned beer in the local bar by 3pm.
A good few days, with great weather and I would recommend this peak to those looking to get some practise in for the higher peaks in the Alps, etc.
