We hired a guide through the Grindelwald Alpine center. To our surprise he was French and had never even climbed in the Neighbourhood. When thick fog hit us early in the morning he promptly decended far to far on to the Aletch gletcher adding an extra hour or so to our climb. Luckily the fog pulled up and we found our way. It was heavy with snow being very soft we made deep tracks. We left the Mönchjoch hut at 4:45 and summitted around 10:00. The climb was gorgeous with a stunning view from the moment you get on the western ridge. The descent was also heavy with even deeper tracks, but it only took 2,5 hours straight down to the Jungfrau Joch. A great tour for the occasional mountaineer that I am.
